Pop Up Displays #1: Getting the Most out of your Convention Appearance
Getting the most out of your convention appearance requires preparation, and the proper equipment. One of the better items you can have in your exhibition kit is a Pop Up Display. These carefully constructed systems are made of aircraft grade aluminum with a cloth panel. When set up, they give a beautiful curved backdrop for your convention presence, about 10 feet wide by a bit under 8 feet tall, fitting all regulation exhibit hall boot requirements.
Now, if you have worked at setting up a trade show, you know setting up the booth is always a tedious chore with lots of last minute adjustments, and hoping like hell you didn’t leave some part back at the main office, forcing you to make an emergency hardware store run in a strange city. And when assembling conventional displays, there’s always a lot of cursing and turning of wrenches, and plying of screws.
The Pop Up Display kit folds down by one or two people into a wheeled case, and the entire packed kit weighs 97 pounds, making it something that ships to the exhibition site inexpensively. The durable form fitted case also doubles nicely as a podium, allowing you to use your display as a backdrop for a panel discussion. Opening the case and setting up the display takes about 15 to 20 minutes the first time, and all tools needed are included with the kit. Best of all, it doesn’t take any unionized labor or assistance from the exhibit hall staff. At the end of the show, tear down is likewise simple and easy, taking roughly 15 minutes. Furthermore, because of the high quality construction, the Pop Up Display kit comes with a full warranty. They’re so confident that it can survive the hard usage that a convention kit gets that they’re willing to replace it for free if it breaks.
Each display comes with four center panels and two end cap panels; these can be custom screen printed to your specifications on order; each center panel costs $299. End caps cost the same, but you can grow into the display unit by upgrading your graphics panels. Each graphics panel is printed on a photographic film suitable for backlighting, and has a sturdy Lexan laminate film.
For a less expensive method of modularizing your display, you can get the model with a Velcro backing, allowing you to swap imagines readily between shows. The entire construction of the Pop Up Display system is aircraft-grade aluminum, and is quite durable, and sturdy, and several lighting options are available, ranging from five incandescent bulbs to halogen lighting fixtures. Furthermore, the displays can be used as a semi-modular display setup. When setting up an island configuration, three or four of them can be set in the middle of your booth, hooked edge to edge. Even with an end cap, or twenty foot booth, two pop up displays can be used to make a gull-wing display that’s visible from quite a distance.
